About Me

I was too young to remember the first music I liked, but I can tell you my grandmother had an old upright piano and could read the music and play and sing just about any song from the church hymnal music books. The best I could do at a young age was “Chopsticks” and part of “Body and Soul.”

My dad was partial to the swing music of his heyday before, during and after WWII... Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James and later Pete Fountain, Al Hurt and that stuff. I think the first “country” album we had in our house was Ray Charles’ “Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music.”

My mom had some Elvis singles. I remember Pat Boone’s version of “Singing The Blues” and “Love Letters in the Sand.” Brenda Lee.

The first record I bought was “Hey LIttle Cobra” by the Rip Chords. Now there’s a classic.

Then I progressed to surf music, the Beatles, “underground” FM music that you couldn’t find on the AM stations. I always seem to like first albums from groups. I began to really enjoy live music, and would frequent places like Liberty Hall, Theodores, Carnaby’s, Rockerfellers, and other places that hide in the shadows of my memories.

When I discovered the likes of Michael Murphey (before he included “Martin” in the middle), Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson and later Asleep at the Wheel, I knew what music was to be my favorite. Still is.

Lives in Texas, Mind and Body

I was born a long time ago, in a land very near, to a female of the human species. Grew up in “the Branch” which is the near west/northwest area of Houston, Texas. My first home was just two suburbian blocks from a working farm in Spring Branch, but that had absolutely has nothing to do with my character nor thought process.
